Tiger advance to NCAA second round on penalty kicks

November 11, 2005, Granville, Ohio - DePauw and Hope battled to a 0-0 tie through 110 minutes of their NCAA Division III first-round match, but the Tigers advanced, 5-4, on penalty kicks.
The 11-6-1 Tigers advanced to the second round where they will face Denison on Saturday at 6 p.m. The Big Red defeated Frostburg State by a 2-0 count. In the shootout, each team made its first four penalty kicks before DePauw keeper Brooke Shipley saved a shot from Hope's Alison Van Beek. The Tigers' Emily Petrus then delivered the game-winner on DePauw's final kick. Hope outshot DePauw 15-11, but the Tigers held a 9-4 advantage after the first half. The Flying Dutch also held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks. Shipley finished with eight saves, while Hope's Holly Nestle also totaled eight. Back
