DePauw opens SCAC Tournament with 2-1 loss to Trinity

April 22, 2005, Conway, Ark. - DePauw opened the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with a 2-1 loss to Trinity and face Millsaps on Saturday at 9 a.m. in an elimination game. Millsaps lost to Centre by a 4-1 score.
The Tigers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first as Kristy Mahon led off with a single and scored on Lauren Curosh's double.
Trinity knotted the score in the third when Rachel Hanson reached on a two-out single and Kristin Weber followed with a single. An error on the play allowed Hanson to score and tie the game.
In the bottom of the sixth, Trinity's Stephanie Priester led off with a single and moved to second on Mandy Chastang's sacrifice bunt. Melissa Johnson followed with the game-winning double.
Mahon led the Tigers with two of their four hits, while Hanson had two of Trinity's six. Curosh dropped to 12-9 despite allowing just six hits and one earned run. Johnson improved to 6-6 with the victory.
DePauw dropped to 19-17-1, while Trinity improved to 22-17.Back
