Trine Blanks Transylvania to Stay Alive in NCAA Softball Regional

May 15, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Trine pitcher Andi Gasco tossed a four-hit shutout and led the Thunder to a 4-0 win over Transylvania in an elimination game of the Greencastle, Indiana, Regional in the NCAA Division III Softball Championship.
The Thunder improved to 28-14 and face Washington University in a 4 p.m. elimination game today. Transylvania finished its season at 35-11.
Trine scored two in the fourth as Lindsay Wise singled and scored on Rchel Wisman's two-run homer to left center.
They added two more in the fifth as Sara Hivley led off with a walk and moved to second when she beat the throw on Tori Bluhm's sacrifice bunt. Tara Sipperly followed with a single and Andi Gasco drove in Hivley when she reached on a fielder's choice. Cassie Byrd's sacrifice fly scored Bluhm and gave the Thunder a 4-0 lead.
Four different Pioneers collected one hit each, while Sipperly and Wisman each had two of Trine's five hits.
Andi Gasco improved to 15-7, while reliever Olivia Wall dropped to 22-6.
