Reis earns Verizon Academic All-America honors
Katie Reis, a 2003 DePauw graduate and member of the women's swimming and diving team, has been selected to the Verizon College Division Women's At-Large Academic All-America Second Team. The teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Earlier this year, Reis, was among 58 awardees who participated in winter sports to receive an NCAA postgraduate scholarship. She was the 17th DePauw student-athlete to earn that prestigious honor since 1968. (see previous release)
A sociology major with a 3.92 grade point average, Reis earned Division III all-America honors five times in her DePauw career including in March with a seventh-place finish in the 200 backstroke at the NCAA Championships. Reis, a resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, has been inducted into Phi Beta Kappa as well as Chi Alpha Sigma (National Scholar Athlete Honor Society) and has made the DePauw Dean's List each of her seven semesters.
The holder of four individual school records and part of two school-record relays, Reis also holds the DePauw record for most points scored and is tied for first for the most points scored in NCAA Championships competition.
