Bondi and Steele win ITA Division III doubles title; Bondi to play for singles championship

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The DePauw doubles team of junior Liz Bondi and freshman Elizabeth Steele defeated the duo of Mona Iyer and Amy Staloch from Carnegie Mellon 6-3, 6-0 to win the 2004 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III singles championship hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University.

They now advance to the ITA Super Bowl of College Tennis where they will open play against the Division II champions from Brigham Young University-Hawaii.
On Thursday, Bondi and Steele defeated the second-seeded team of Jamie Chan and Linda Tien of Emory 6-2, 6-1 in the first round before knocking off Sarah Hughes and Allison Dunn of Colby in the semifinals by a 6-0, 6-0 score.
In singles play, Bondi will compete for the Division III title on Saturday morning after defeating second-seeded Serena Burkard of Emory 6-3, 7-5 in Friday morning's semifinals.
Bondi will face top-seeded Lindsay Hagerman of Washington & Lee in Saturday morning's championship match. On Thursday, Bondi beat Sandra Montez of Redlands 6-2, 6-0 in the first round of singles play.
