May 20, 2006, Santa Cruz, Calif. - Top-seeded Liz Bondi advanced to the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Singles quarterfinals after winning a pair of matches today, while both doubles teams won their opening matches to also advance to the quarterfinals.
Bondi opened with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Lily Dashiell of Colorado College and then defeated Emory's Linda Tien by a 6-3, 6-3 score in the second round. Bondi faces Kenyon's Ashley Kriwinsky in Sunday's quarterfinal.
In doubles play, the top-seeded team of Bondi and Amrita Padda advanced to the national quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Haley Dittus and Laura Steinmetz of Trinity (Texas).
The tandem of Erin Andrade and Connie Shim also advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) victory over Kristen McClung and Emily Applegate of Washington & Lee.
Bondi and Padda will face Jenna Mezin and Hali Walther of Wellesley on Sunday, while Andrade and Shim tangle with Mona Iyer and Amy Staloch of Carnegie Mellon.
