Two Tigers Pick Up ITA Regional Awards

Senior Kristine Lewry (near right) earned the Division III Central Region Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award, while sophomore Janelle Arita (far right) was selected as the region's Player to Watch.

Lewry posted a 14-4 singles record this season and was 16-9 in doubles play. She was earlier named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's Women's Tennis All-Sportsmanship Team and was a member of a doubles team named to the SCAC All-Tournament Team in April.

Arita competes in the 32-player Division III Singles Championship beginning May 22 at the Collins Hill Athletic Club in Lawrenceville, Ga.

This years Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year runner-up, Arita posted a 23-10 record at number-one singles and is 49-19 in her career. She also was 21-10 in doubles action, lifting her career mark to 47-16.
