Lauren Torvi enters her first season at DePauw as an assistant volleyball coach after an award-laden career at Springfield College (Mass.).
While at Springfield, Torvi racked up many individual honors to go along with team accomplishments. In addition to helping her team to a 34-2 record and NCAA Championship quarterfinal appearance in her senior season, she was also honored as an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) first-team all-America selection.
Torvi earned player of the year honors by the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) and the New England Women’s Volleyball Association (NEWVA) and was the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) offensive player of the year. She also earned first-team all-region honors and was an NEWVA senior all-star. Torvi was voted to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District third team and earned both all-conference and academic all-conference accolades from the NEWMAC.
While in school, Torvi interned in the Springfield athletic department completing tasks pertaining to promotions and budgeting. In addition, she also work at the Spalding Hoop Hall Classic where she was involved with game-day operations.
After graduation, Torvi accepted an event management internship at The Ohio State University, where she was in charge of communicating with coaches and administration on event planning. While in Columbus, she helped in hosting the NCAA Rifle Championship, NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship second and third rounds, NCAA Fencing Championships and the Big Ten women’s tennis championship.
A 2012 graduate of Springfield College, Torvi is currently pursuing her master’s degree from Indiana State University.
