Women of Color Lunch
Add to Calendar11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Women of Color Lunches are for faculty and staff who self-identify as women of color. These lunches started about 7 years ago as a part of an initiative from the Multicultural Affairs office and have evolved over the last few years. We gather once every month for a luncheon and time of fellowship. Two or more women volunteer to host the lunch either in their house or on campus (usually at the Women's Center) and they provide the meal. We feel like this is an important opportunity for the women in our community to get together. Please contact Aliya Beavers for more information. #WomensCenter

Add to Calendar7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Free and open to the public. A shuttle will depart from the front of Union Building at 6:45 p.m.
Dr. Jordan-Young is Associate Professor of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Barnard College; her book, Brainstorm: The Flaws in the Science of Sex Differences, which won the 2011 Distinguished Publication Award from the Association for Women in Psychology, looks in detail at the science behind "brain organization theory," and at claims based on that theory involving "hard-wired" differences between women and men, sexual orientation, and more. She has also worked on public health campaigns about HIV/AIDS, and her current project investigates “the ongoing sex/gender policing of elite female athletes, also showing how that policing trickles down to other levels of sports, and broadly diffuses to shore up gender norms about physicality.” You can learn more about her work (including recent articles and reviews) at
