Coercive Control, with implications for domestic violence and stalking. by TK Logan

Add to Calendar3:00 pm – 4:30 pm

Coercive Control: The core of partner violence We hear about partner violence (dating violence, domestic violence) in the news and on TV every day. In some ways we have come a long way in the understanding of partner violence. Today it is now a topic of considerable discussion when just a short time ago it was barely mentioned. Yet, there is still a lot we do not understand about partner violence.  This presentation will examine why coercive control is misunderstood. Coercive control is used to control and terrorize prisoners of war, cult members, human trafficking victims, and kidnap victims as well as partner violence victims. Understanding the historical and psychological dimensions of coercive control provides a more solid foundation for understanding entrapment in personal life and why a victim of partner violence "can't just leave."  Free and open to anyone.
