Persion Visions: Contemporary Photography from Iran

 In the first survey of contemporary Iranian photography to travel to the United States, Persian Visions features 20 artists who use the camera as a tool for cultural expression and self-exploration. Organized by the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art and the University of MinnesotaDepartment of Art, this exhibition of 58 wokrs introduces some of Iran's most celebrated photographers to American audiences

Persian Visions was developed by Hamid Severi for the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, Iran, and Gary Hallman of the Regis Center for Art, University of Minnesota and is toured by International Arts & Artists, Washington, D.C. 

 

This exhibition was made possible in part by the ILEX Foundation, University of Minnesota McKnight Arts and Humanities Endowment, and the Department of Art, Regis Center for Art, University of Minnesota.

How do you make friends when there is no activities fair at the beginning of the year? Alumni will return to campus to share their experiences of moving to a new city, balancing their work and home lives, and contributing to their communities. Students will have the opportunity to hear from a speaker, ask questions of a panel, and socialize with alumni.

Environmental Fellows Speaker-Sandra Steingraber

“The Whole Fracking Enchilada: Toward Meaningful Toxic Chemical Reform and a Rational Energy Policy”Dr. Steingraber is an internationally recognized authority on the links between the environment and cancer and human health.  Her many publications include three books: Living Downstream: An Ecologist’s Personal Investigation of Cancer and the Environment, Having Faith: An Ecologist’s Journey to Motherhood, and Raising Elijah: Protecting Children in an Age of Environmental Crisis.  Called “a poet with a knife” by Sojourner magazine, Steingraber has received many honors for her work as a science writer.This presentation is free and open to the public.
