Lunch Box Music: Ming-Hui Kuo, Percussion

Add to Calendar12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

The musical menu for percussionist Ming-Hui Kuo’s FREE lunch hour concert at M2 includes pieces featuring marimba as the main course, with sides of vibraphone, saxophone, piano, gongs, triangles and many other tasty sounds. The appetizer on this informal program of playing and chatting will be Piazonore, Alexej Gerassimez’s adventurous interpretation of Astor Piazzolla’s Libertango. Selections from David Maslanka's Song Book offer big helpings of warm and cozy comfort food for marimba and saxophone duo. The Concerto for Marimba and String Orchestra, in a piano reduction by Emmanuel Séjourne, includes two exotic sides: a dramatic, emotional first movement with a zesty second in a spicy Spanish dance style.

A limited number of box lunches by Bon Appétit will also be available for purchase at M2.

Friday, February 24, 2017

7:30 p.m.

Green Center, Kresge Auditorium

www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2562656A rare combination of supreme artistry and physical endurance, since Kodo’s

debut at the Berlin Festival in 1981, the group has given over 5,800

performances in 49 countries on five continents, exploring the limitless sonic

possibilities of the Japanese drum, the taiko. This production of Dadan, part of

Kodo’s 35th Anniversary celebrations and its first North American tour, will

be the only performance in Indiana. Allow yourself to be immersed in this

mesmerizing 2,000-year old tradition — as old as Japan itself and as much

pure, physical athleticism as it is a form of musical entertainment. Presented

through support from DePauw University's Asian Studies Department. Kodo

also thanks Al Nippon Airways for its support of “Dadan 2017” USA Tour/Kodo

35th Anniversary Production.
