We start with Venus transiting the Sun, enjoy views of Mars & Saturn, then ISS does a fly-by! Join us! DePauw's Julian Science & Mathematics Center, on the roof and in the atrium! Roof ~ Solar Telescope to view Venus, until sunset, then we'll switch telescopes and view the planets! Atrium ~ Live NASA webcast of Venus transit from 6 PM until it's over! But be sure you step outside (or back to the roof!) to watch the International Space Station soar overhead! Astronaut Don Pettit is onboard the ISS, photographing the transit of Venus. A first ever event: Venus transit photographs, from space!

Rising in the NNW at 11:54 PM, ISS shines VERY bright at magnitude -3.3 (smaller is brighter!). She soars at a maximum elevation of 50 degrees at 11:57 to the North, then sets. When ISS sets, she slowly dims, and then disappears, as she moves into Earth's shadow. Very cool.
