SUMMARY:Megan Alexander - Education and Community Arts
DESCRIPTION:Megan Alexander, Arts in Education Specialist, will offer an active presentation concerning her ideas about the demonstrated success of 100% arts integration in public schools. &nbspShe has developed a series of workshops to teach students about electricity using drama and movement. &nbspBrown Bag event - please feel free to bring your own lunch.&nbspMegan Alexander is excited to be back at her alma mater where she graduated in 2006, with a BA in Communications Arts and Sciences. &nbspSince that time she has been pursuing a career in education and the arts. &nbspShortly after graduating from DePauw, Megan moved to Louisville, KY to intern for Actors Theatre of Louisville. &nbspThere she discovered how a theatre can connect with local school systems and community groups to bring enrichment to the city, as well as ticket sales for the theatre. &nbsp &nbspShe then went on to work for Walden Theatre as a teaching artist, working more extensively with Louisville youth. &nbspIn 2008, Megan began studying theatre education at Emerson College in Boston, MA, graduating with a masters degree in 2010. &nbspIt was here that she fine tuned exactly how she would use theatre as a teaching tool in education. &nbspAfter two years as an elementary drama specialist for Boston area schools, Megan returned to her home town of Cincinnati, OH. &nbspShe is currently a teaching artist, theatre consultant, and performance script writer. &nbspHer affiliations include Cincinnati's Playhouse in the Park, Cincinnati's Children's Theatre, Creative Arts Initiatives, Dramakinetics, and Learning Through Art. &nbspMegan's ultimate goal is to start her own company providing teaching and learning opportunities for teachers and students through movement and creative dramatics. &nbsp&nbspFREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC#Theatre #Education #Arts&nbsp
