What is the Parents’ Fund?

The Parents’ Fund is a special part of DePauw University’s Annual Fund that includes gifts from current and past parents who are not alumni of DePauw.  A committee of current parents leads the fundraising efforts of the Parents’ Fund for the University.

Why should I give money to the Parents’ Fund when I already pay tuition?

While DePauw is committed to keeping costs down, tuition only covers 70 percent of the entire cost of a student’s education.  The Annual Fund provides the resources that bridge the gap between tuition and the real costs.  By making a gift to the Parents’ Fund, your money is going to work immediately to enhance the educational experience of your DePauw student.

Where does my money go?

A Random ImageThe dollars raised in this year are spent this year wherever the needs are greatest. 
Currently, the needs are greatest in support for student scholarships, faculty development, technology, and winter term and off-campus study.  Last year (2005-2006), parents of DePauw students contributed $125,000 to the Parents’ Fund and those funds helped support these key initiatives.  This year’s goal is to raise $175,000 and you may direct your gift to one of the following areas:  Student Scholarships, Faculty Support, Technology and Library Support, Creative and Performing Arts, Winter Term and Off-Campus Study, Diversity Initiatives, The Katula Fund for Athletics and Unrestricted Support.

In addition, many large employers match an employee’s contribution to nonprofit organizations like DePauw.  The human resource office or personnel office of the employee can provide donors with the appropriate paperwork and/or details.  Any matching gift questions should be directed to Gwen Tohill-Macam, Director of Matching Gifts, by calling 800-446-5298 or by e-mailing gtmacam@depauw.edu.
