Jason D. Fuller, Associate Professor of Religious Studies, John Clark Ridpath Faculty Fellow and member of the Asian Studies Steering Committee at DePauw received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvana. Specializing in the study of Modern Hinduism, Professor Fuller's disciplinary training was in Comparative Religion while his area training was in South Asian Studies. He has conducted extensive field and archival research in India as well as Japan, Greece, Great Britain and the United States. His research has been supported by fellowships from the U.S. Department of Education, the American Institute of Indian Studies, the University of Washington, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Pennsylvania, the Great Lakes Colleges Association and DePauw University. His writing has appeared in numerous scholarly publications including the Journal of Hindu Studies, Teaching Theology and Religion, the Journal of Vaishnava Studies, the Inernational Journal of Hindu Studies and Education About Asia. Current areas of research include: Hindu Modernity, Bengali Vaishnavism, Hindu-Christian Dialogue, Religious Aesthetics, Comparative Contemplative Practices, Religion and Film, and Psychoanalytic Interpretations of Religion. Recently, he has taken a special interest in the crypto-theological dimensions of the "New Atheism." Together with his wife Rebekah, who is a writer and scholar of Medieval English Literature, Fuller enjoys a variety of pastimes including Renaissance faires, daily meditation, the reading of mystical literature, watching PBS and international travel. When he is not teaching, writing or doing historical research Professor Fuller is often to be found riding his 2001 Indian Spirit motorcycle along the back roads of rural Indiana.
