System Registry (SysReg) Overview

The e-Services System Registry stores system values that are related to the functioning of the administrative system. This storage allows the values to be easily maintained by the users. The SysReg provides the following:

Navigating to

The SysReg home page is navigated to from the e-Services home page. The System Registry link is located under the following headings on the left column of the page:

Keys

The SysReg consists of keys that group name/value pairs. Keys do not hold values that impact the system. The Key Tree is located on the left column of the SysReg Main Menu page. This tree organizes the keys so that they can be easily navigated. The tree can be expanded to show the various keys for each department.

The keys correspond to business and system structures. Keys are secured by departments and only authorized users in each department are allowed to view them.

Selecting a key will display its name/value pair.

Name/Value Pairs

The name/value pairs are linked to keys.

Types of Keys and Values

The SysReg provides several types of keys and values that are consistently used through out the e-Services.

  1. List of Values (LOV). LOVs store values that have been defined for the e-System's data. The Values are shown in a drop-down list while their corresponding ID numbers are stored in the database.

Note: See the Address Style LOV on the CIS Address Form.

  2. Standard Menus. These menus store values that have been defined by an external source such as the U.S. Census Bureau. Names are shown in a drop-down list and the value number is stored in the database.

Note: See the US Citizen drop-down menu on the CIS Person Form.

  3. System Messages. These messages may appear on a web page or in an e-mail. Each message will have a descriptive title and a value. The value contains the text to display or send.

  4. Instructions and Access Lists. Many values have instructions to guide the Power Users' entries. The Name of the instructions will be /* Instructions */. The Value will hold the instructions to be followed when creating the access lists. The access name is a descriptive title to be displayed as a menu while the corresponding value contains the security designators that can view the item.

  5. SELECT Column Clusters and WHERE Snippets. Clusters and Snippets are modular SQL code that can be used throughout e-Services. The name is a descriptive title to be used in SQL statements while the value contains the modular SQL code.

Keyword Search

The SysReg has a search option that allows for searching keywords within the key names, value names and the values. Clicking on the ID number link in the search result will allow you to view the key or value.

Registry Value Entry Form

The Registry Value Entry form is used for creating or editing a name/value pair. A descriptive name is entered for a new record. The name can not be edited once saved. The system value, that will be used in programming, can be entered or edited. A date can be entered to end-date the name/value pair.
