International Student Orientation
The first semester at a new school promises to be one of the most exciting and hectic times of college life. For international students studying in a new educational system and far away from home, it can be even more challenging. International Student Orientation is required as it allows additional time for international students to adjust to DePauw University and the United States, but also time to cover the many important topics that are specific to international students’ success while studying here. Topics and events include:
- President’s Welcome Address and Reception
- Campus Tour
- Classroom Experience
- English Language Assessment
- Immigration 101 – How to Stay in Status
- Opening a Bank Account
- Employment
- Health Insurance
The week also promises fun, with movie nights, scavenger hunts and shopping trips. By the end of the week, international students will be ready to take part in the required First-Year Student Orientation, during which they will meet more students, meet with their academic advisors to discuss their courses and learn more about what is available to them as a DePauw student.
