Sandy Lane

Sandy Lane creates work that explores the manner in which storytelling affects and shapes cultural and social mores. Her mixed media works and installations reference and appropriate a wide range of symbolic imagery from diverse belief systems that are transformed into potent narratives of contemporary society and culture.

Contemporary American Folk Art from the Arient Family Collection March 31 – June 14, 2004
Mind Storm: Contemporary American Folk Art from the Arient Family Collection features works from the impressive, respected collection of Chicago-area collectors Jim and Beth Arient. This exhibition showcases and celebrates the artistic vision and production of self-taught American artists, provides insight into the processes and nuances of collecting, and exposes the personal relationships that often form between artist and collector.
