The Allen Challenge - FAQ
“Frequently Asked Questions” regarding the GOLD one-day giving challenge sponsored by Betty Allen '56 and Bob Allen.
Q: If I’ve already made a gift since July 1, 2012 (i.e. Fiscal Year 2012-2013) and I make an additional gift on November 15, will my second gift meet the match?
A: Yes! All unrestricted gifts to the Annual Fund made on November 15, 2012 will be matched 1:1 up to a total of $50,000--even if you're already a donor this fiscal year.
Q: If I make a Tiger Club gift on November 15, will my gift count for The Allen Challenge?
A: No. Your Tiger Club gift will count towards the Tiger Club, but the challenge sponsors stipulated that only unrestricted gifts made to the Annual Fund will be matched.
Q: Can I make my gift with a check and still participate in the challenge?
A: Yes! As long as your gift is delivered to our office on November 15 or postmarked on November 15, it will be matched and count towards The Allen Challenge.
Q: Will my gift on November 15 count towards the GOLD Scholars program?
A: Yes! The GOLD Council will choose a GOLD Scholar every time graduates of the last decade raise $20,000 in unrestricted gifts to the Annual Fund.
Q: If I’m having trouble making my gift online, who should I call?
A: Call (800) 446-5298 and speak to any member of DePauw’s Advancement team.
Q: When will we know the final results of the challenge?
A: Due to the receipt of checks in the mail and the verification process for each gift, it is unlikely that we will know the “final” results before Monday, November 19, 2012.
Q: Why did Betty Allen ’56 and Bob Allen issue this challenge only to GOLD?
A: “It is important to me that alumni get in the habit of contributing something ... even if it can be only a small amount at this time.” – Betty Allen ’56
