Brandon Piper in front of the White HouseSecond semester of his junior year, Brandon Piper of Evansville, IN interned for the United Nations World Food Programme in Rome, Italy. A Media Fellow Communication major with a minor in music, Piper worked in the Communication division of WFP copy editing, proofreading press releases and gathering news for which WFP was responsible or in which it was mentioned. In addition to other responsibilities, he also wrote a press release that was published in a Danish newspaper and helped make a commercial for a book created by WFP. Piper said he enjoyed being at the core of information as a trusted part of the department.

Brandon with Vernon Jordan '57During his time at DePauw, Piper been involved with various organizations on campus, including the DePauw.year1 mentor program as a peer mentor; DePauwCappella; University Chorus; several DePauw Theatre productions; the theatre honor society, Alpha Psi Omega; National Society of Collegiate Scholars; Mortar Board and the University newspaper, The DePauw. He has also held many leadership positions in his fraternity, Delta Upsilon, as well as making Dean’s List every semester. In addition to his enlightening experience with WFP, Brandon interned with the DePauw Admission Office in publications, the Washington, DC bureau of NBC and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in DC where he worked with advertising communications. Piper is considering pursuing a master’s degree in Fine Arts and Acting, or a career in television, print journalism or advertising.
