Matt Goodwin - Teamworks

Fortunately, I've got nothing but good news to send back from Chicago! The first project I worked on was an instructional video featuring Mia Hamm that you can probably access via on-demand television for Sportskool. For five days at the very end of march and beginning of April, I flew to South Beach, Florida to work on a one hour special that will be airing on Fox Sports Net nationwide on May 7 I think. It's called "City Games" and it is an international fitness competition in which cities from around the world competed to be named the fittest city in the World, LA wins, but don't tell anyone. I also worked on a national ad spot for Mazda that we shot at the Milwaukee Mile racetrack and I actually appear in it too.  And finally, I think the biggest news is that I've been hired for the summer to work as a freelance production assistant at TeamWorks and have many more exciting projects to look forward to.

It's been a lot of work, some long hours, and pretty frustrating at times, but I've finally gotten to a point where I can't imagine getting a better internship experience anywhere else given the enormous access I've had and opportunity I've been given. Not only have I coordinated many aspects of the productions in pre and post, but I've also had a chance to spend time on major shoots, live feeds and press conferences and had incredible chances to discuss my thoughts and feelings with members of the company and even clients. I've developed through physical experiences and remembering that as an intern, it's not only my job to work hard, but it's my job to learn as much as I can through asking questions, no matter how simple the answers.

I've become more proficient at editing on Avid and I've learned how to set up a press conference, I've dealt with Getty Images, Fox Sports Net, embasies, consulates, tourism bureaus and conference USA and ESPN, but I've also dealt with the 85 Bears World Championship Team and annoying interns in Miami Beach. From music licensing, research and writing scripts to dubbing tapes, transcribing interviews and wrapping cables, I think I've gotten it all at TeamWorks!
