[Conflict Studies and Spanish Majors - Indianapolis, Indiana]
My Honor Scholar courses were, without a doubt, the most gratifying
part of my academic experience at DePauw. Honor Scholar's
dialogue-based approach to classes makes for intriguing, provocative
and enriching discussion, whether it's about Malcolm X, cosmological
expansion or Russian futurism. For sheer corniness I can't allow
myself to say that "HoScho made learning fun!", but looking forward to
the lively debates of my Honor Scholar courses definitely helped me
get out of bed when one happened to convene at 8am.
Since graduating from DePauw I've been working with Colombian refugees
in Ecuador and completing a master in International Relations. The
project is funded by a Fulbright Grant, and my Honor Scholar thesis
was integral in helping me develop a research program tight enough for
the folks at Fulbright. Plus, writing a masters thesis now is a piece
of cake after doing the Honor Scholar thesis.

[Literature and Communication Majors - Mumbai, India] I chose to come to DePauw from Mumbai, India, over the schools that accepted me in England and Canada. I chose DePauw because of its generous financial aid package, coupled with the opportunity of being an Honor Scholar. An additional English Literature/Communication double major convinced me that paired with the Honor Scholar program, I would get the most out of my college education.
DePauw provided well, allowing me to further study abroad at Oxford University in England, start an underground art magazine, join a sorority, promote the internationalization of DePauw with then President Dr. Bottoms to the Board of Trustees, and travel home twice a year.
I have just returned to India, after spending a year in New York working within the independent film industry, and plan to return to the U.S. for an MFA in film next year. Until then, Bollywood!
