The Science Research Fellows program is an innovative and highly selective opportunity for outstanding students interested in pursuing the study of science and gaining significant research experience as an undergraduate. Although the program places an emphasis on science, it maintains a liberal arts focus.

There are four components to the program:


Research
Experience I & II

BulletHands-on research experience during the first year.
BulletThe chance to work in small groups (4-5 students) to develop technical and communication skills.
Bullet.5 credit received for each of fall and spring semesters.

Student/faculty
Summer Research

BulletYour investigative ability is developed by working closely with a DePauw faculty member on a 10 week paid summer project.
BulletResults are presented in poster session format during the fall semester.
BulletSome students are able to present their research results at undergraduate conferences and/or professional conferences attended with their faculty sponsor.

Off-Campus
Internship

BulletOur interns choose to work in major research universities, government laboratories, continue on-going research projects here at DePauw or conduct research with private businesses or industries.
BulletExcellent preparation for graduate and professional schools.

 

 

Capstone
Senior Seminar

BulletSRF students come together as seniors to build a bridge between undergraduate research and their future careers.
BulletReflections on the eight SRF sciences.
BulletInvited speaker series allows students to meet with authors of books/publications used for class readings.
BulletStudents receive .5 credit for this spring semester class.
