361° Programs & Places

  • Information Technology Associates Program (ITAP) - ITAP provides special opportunities for DePauw students to develop advanced skills in a wide range of information technologies, including digital video production and Web design, information analysis with spreadsheets and databases, and desktop and network hardware. ITAP students spend an average of 8-10 hours per week in internship and training activities and every program participant experiences an off-campus internship during their junior year.

  • Student Technology Assessment, Resources, and Training (START) - The centerpiece of the 361° student initiatives is START, which addresses the learning needs of all DePauw students by providing them with opportunities to enhanse their liberal arts education with information technology knowledge and skills. Workshops, Web-based training, courses and one-on-one training are available to all students. START students and staff members work with faculty members to provide specific course related technology training through in-class workshops.

  • Faculty Instructional Technology Support (FITS) - FITS is a program that assists faculty members in enhancing their teaching and their students learning through the latest technology. FITS is concerned with the pedagogical applications of technology, rather then with explicit technical training.

  • GIS Center (GIS) - The DePauw Geographic Information Systems Center coordinates GIS activities across campus so that information and knowledge can be shared and exchanged for the benefit of the entire DePauw community. It also collaborates with Greencastle and Putnam County communities to establish a relationship that benefits both DePauw and the surrounding region.

  • Digital Media Lab (dml) - Located in the basement of the Roy O. West Library, the dml works closely with FITS, the Web Team, Information Services and other campus technology organizations to develop consistent and easy to use services for all faculty, students and staff.

  • Music Instructional Technology Center (mitc) - DePauw's School of Music includes the Music Instructional Technology Center, an advanced facility that includes a computer lab, audio production facility and mobile audio recording services.

  • Community Technology Enhancement Program (CTEP) - CTEP promotes technology literacy and access in Putnam County. ITAP students provide computer hardware, software and training to underprivileged members of the region.

  • University Libraries (Libraries) - The four Roy O. West Libraries (Roy O. West, Prevo Science, the Music Library and the Visual Resource Center in the Peeler Art Center) offer a rapidly expanding array of digital collections and services. The digital media lab, Electronic Reserves and Instructional Media Services provide innovative, state-of-the-art resources and services.
  • Eugene S. Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media (PCCM) - The PCCM is home to media-related academic and extracurricular programs. The PCCM includes the offices for the student newspaper, radio station, literary magazine and yearbook. Additionally, the PCCM houses a television studio (home of the campus cable channel), a full print facility, darkrooms and a Creative Center with computing capabilities for Web design and desktop publishing.

  • Technology Center, Percy L. Julian Science and Mathamatics Center - The technology center in this renovated science building is the centerpiece for 361 Initiatives. The center includes pioneering facilities and serves as a locus for exploring the best techniques for integrating new digital tools in the teaching and learning process. (more)

  • Richard Peeler Art Center - Opened in 2002, this art center is equipped for the use of technology in instruction in seminar rooms, classrooms, a computer lab, a digital video lab and a small auditorium. The Visual Resource Center (VRC) supports imagine technology needs across the curriculum. (more)

  • Opportunity Through Collaboration Program - The Opportunity Through Collaboration Program is a series of new initiatives, designed to create new economic opportunities for the local community, and encourage DePauw graduates to remain in the state following graduation.
