As part of regular maintenance, Blackboard courses older than one year will be removed during the first week of December. This includes courses that begin with the Course ID of 20304 (Spring 2004), 10405 (Fall 2004), W0405 (Winter Term 2005) and 20405 (Spring 2005).
All courses from the 05-06 and 06-07 academic years will remain on the Blackboard server.
What does this mean to you? As a faculty member you need to do two things:
- Archive all Blackboard courses that you used for the Spring 2004, Fall 2004, Winter Term 2005 and Spring 2005 semesters.
What does archiving do? Archiving your course creates a permanent record of the course, including all the content and student interactions. Archiving compresses your course site into a file that can only be read within Blackboard. You will not be able to view the archive outside of Blackboard. If you need to view your archived course, you will need to email blackboard@depauw.edu so we can place your course back into Blackboard.
You can find step-by-step instructions at http://www.depauw.edu/it/blackboard/toolsresources/FacArchiveCourse.asp or you can stop by the FITS Center for assistance with this process.
- Make a separate backup copy of individual files you uploaded into Blackboard courses during the Spring 2004, Fall 2004, Winter Term 2005 and Spring 2005 semesters.
What does creating a backup copy do? Having a backup copy of a file provides you with a permanent copy of the document that you can access without reloading the archived course back into Blackboard.
