Rulers
The two rulers running vertically and horizontally across the screen can be set to measure in inches, millimeters, picas, or ciceros. If the rulers are not visible on your screen, choose View → Show Rulers from the menu bar. To change the measurement options, right click on one of the rulers and select the option you would like, or choose File → Preferences → General from the menu bar and change the measurement and vertical ruler options and click OK.
Toolbox
The toolbox contains all of the selection, drawing, and viewing tools for creating and manipulating text and objects in your project. The tools include the 
Pointer, 
Text, 
Rotate, 
Crop, 
Line, 
Constrained Line, 
Rectangle, 
Rectangle Text Box, 
Ellipse, 
Ellipse Text Box, 
Polygon, 
Polygon Text Box, 
Hand, and 
Zoom.
Page Margins
This is the place where all the text and objects are generally placed. You can hide the margins by selecting View → Hide Guides from the menu bar.
Color Palette
This window contains the colors and styles you may use in your project.
Master Page Icons
Click on the L and R icons to view objects on the master pages. Items on the master page will appear on all pages of the document.
Page Icons
The numbered icons represent the pages of your document. The highlighted icon indicates what page you are currently using.
Control Palette
The control palette is used to manipulate any item on the screen. Its appearance changes depending on what tool is selected. You can manipulate text, paragraphs, or objects by changing the settings in the control palette.
Scroll Bars
The scroll bars are used to help you move to various points on the current page.
