Inserting Audio from a CD

1. Click on Audio in the Effects and Sounds palette.

2. Verify that the movie timeline is in Movie/Audio mode.

3. Load the CD with the audio you would like to insert into the movie.

  • Insert the audio CD into the CD drive. (To open and close the CD drive, press the arrow key at the top right corner of the keyboard.)
  • Wait about 30-60 seconds and the CD tracks should appear (see right.)

4. Insert the audio track into the movie.

To put an entire music track into your movie, select a track and drag it where you want it to occur in the movie timeline. The bottom two rows with the horn and the numbers 1 and 2 are for audio, so you must drag your clip to one of these two rows (it does not matter which one.) The audio clip will then appear as a purple bar.

If you would only like to use part of the track:

  • Make sure your audio clip is selected by clicking on it once.
  • Drag the playhead in the movie timeline to the point where you would like to insert the audio (see below.)
  • Click the Play button under the list of CD tracks (see above.)
  • Listen to the track until you arrive at the point where you want to record.
  • Click Record Music. This button will now change to say Stop.
  • Click Stop when you are finished recording. The audio track you have just recorded will appear in purple on the movie timeline.

The audio clip will then correspond with the video clip above it. Click and drag the audio clip if you would like to move it around the movie timeline.
