iWeb
Like DreamWeaver from Microsoft, iWeb is Apple’s web designer program. The basics are included in this manual. For additional help, visit http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials/#iweb.
Creating a site
- Open iWeb.
- Your template options appear in front of you. Pick whichever style you like and begin by selecting the pre-designed Welcome page.
- To change the text, double click on the text placeholder and type in your own information.
- To add your own picture or movies, click the “Media” button in the bottom right of the window.
- Select a photo and drag it over the picture placeholder to add it to your webpage.
- Click the “Add” button (plus sign) in the bottom left corner to select another page for your website. Customize that page using these same instructions.
Adding Navigation
- Each additional page you add is automatically linked back to the index (Welcome page) for you.
- If you want to add your own links, begin by clicking the “Inspector” button in the bottom right of the window.
- Select the text or picture that you want to link.
- Click the “link” icon at the top of the Inspector window.
- Check the “Enable as hyperlink” box.
- Select what the link leads to.
- “One of my Pages” allows you to choose another page of your website.
- “An External Page” requires a URL to an outside website.
- “A File” allows you to select a PDF for upload.
- “An Email Message” creates a link for sending emails.

Publishing
- When you are done creating your site, click “Publish” in the bottom left corner (next to the “Add” button.)
- iWeb uploads your website and gives you the option of viewing it directly.
- OR, go to “File,” “Publish to a folder” and type in the name of the server for upload.
