Image manipulating and scanning

Acquiring Images

Images can be acquired by using a digital camera, scanner, clip-art and stock photography, or from the web directly.

Scanning directions for HP Precision Pro Scanner

(Note that the scanning directions at the bottom are specific to a certain scanner’s software (HP TWAIN).

1. Make sure the scanning area is clean and free of dust
2. Put the item you are scanning onto the scanner. Be sure it is lying completely flat and face down on the glass.
3. Open Fireworks or Photoshop (or any image editing software that supports TWAIN interface)

4. Choose File/Scan/Twain Acquire for Fireworks or File/Import/HP Precision Pro for Photoshop
Note: If you are asked to select a source, click on HP Precision Pro and click "OK."

5. You will see a screen with buttons and settings on the left and an area to preview your documents on the right

6. If you cannot see a preview of your document in the window on the right, click the "New Scan" button at the top left icon. After a "pre-scanning in progress window" disappears you should see a preview of your document.

7. Click and drag to create a rectangle around the area you wish to scan.

8. Review the settings on the left and choose appropriate setting:

a. True Color
b. 256-Color (optimized palette)
c. 256-Color (web palette)
d. Grayscale
e. Black & White Bitmap
f. Help me choose…


9. Click "Return to…" button at the top icon

A scanner progress screen will appear. When scan is complete, the picture will open automatically in Fireworks.
