An
identical window to the one below will appear.
A
session properties window will appear and you should fill in the required
information.
Profile
Name: Give a name you will associate with the site you wish to connect
to.
Type
in your host name in the next box.
Set
your host type to Automatic detect.
Type
in your user id and password and hit ok
You will see
the main FTP screen that is divided into two sides; the left would contain
the local system directory and the right side is your directory on the given
server.
To connect
to your remote server, hit the “connect” button.
The right
side will become active, displaying directory paths and files.
Use
the green arrow buttons on the upper left hand corner to navigate up the
directory by one level.
Double
click on an individual directory to move down one level.
Choose the
type of file transfer you need. It
is normally already on binary and should be left there because this is the
transfer type you need if you are transferring programs, web pages,
pictures, Word documents and almost all kinds of files. If you are
transferring text only files generated by a plain-text editor, you can
choose ASCII.
To transfer
files, navigate until you have the directory you want to transfer files
from on one side, and the directory you want to transfer files to on the
other side. Highlight the file you want to transfer by clicking on it and
click the arrow pointing where you want to transfer it to.
Close the
ftp session by clicking the Close button at lower left when you finish
transferring the files.
