The theme of this year's conference is "Sustainability in Information Technology: How green is your IT?"
The 2009 GLITTER conference will be hosted at DePauw University in Greencastle Indiana. The setting for Thursday's events will be the Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics, located in the DePauw Nature Park.
GLITTER is an annual conference for Information Technologists of the Great Lakes regional chapter of CLAC (Consortium of Liberal Arts Colleges), which incorporates the GLCA (Great Lakes Colleges Association) colleges in Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, plus Alma College. GLITTER rotates from state to state amongst the Regional CLAC Chapter member organizations. The event was hosted by Oberlin College in Ohio in 2007, and Kalamazoo College hosted the conference last year.
The conference includes a campus reports section, where a representative from each college provides a summary of the technological advances and/or issues that have occurred at their organization during the past year. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn what similar colleges are doing with technology in support of the academic environment as it pertains to computers, networking, course management systems, security, labs, software, servers, storage, etc. Each college has been allotted approximately 10 minutes to provide a synopsis of the information technology activities/initiatives.
Following the campus reports, attendees participate in breakout or panel sessions to discuss issues, current trends, new advances, future insights, etc. Most sessions will include a presentation of the topic, followed by open discussion amongst participants.
