Who doesn’t need help paying for college? If you fall for this, you’ll be paying for a lot more than school! Don’t be a victim to phishing scams!

Be Careful when clicking on links from emails, especially when it asks for private information. Spammers often disguise their scam as an email from a bank or from a person in trouble. Do not give away personal information to sites linked from these phishy emails. If you are concerned about an email that appears to be from your bank, call your bank to verify its authenticity. And remember, if an email message offers an opportunity that looks too good to be true, it usually is.

To learn more about phishing, go to: http://www.depauw.edu/it/healthycomputing/cyberSecurity.asp#phishing

Stop by our tables in the Hub on Thursday from 11:00am-1:30pm to register your laptop’s serial number with Information Services for a chance to win a 250 gigabyte external hard drive!

Sincerely,

The DePauw Help Desk Staff
