Students with the new Dell D610 laptops may notice an error message when they open Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). While this message will not prevent the program from working, this patch resolves the problem with Microsoft Office if the student has created a new Windows profile for their laptop, so the message will no longer appear.
The file that contains the necessary information is located at http://www.depauw.edu/it/helpdesk/downloads/DPU/officefix/officefix.zip
Click Save, then select the Local Disk (C: ) and click Save again.
Now browse to the C: drive, and double-click “officefix.zip”.
Click on Extract all files.
Open any Office application (Word, Excel, etc.) and when you are asked for the location of the necessary files, browse to C:\officefix\officefix and click Open. The location should now be permanently saved so you will not receive this message again.
