Novell Client for Windows Installation

1) Click to download the Novell Client Install File (CLNT491E.EXE) (25MB).

2) At the File Download window, click the Run Button.

 

You may receive a Security Warning as follows.  This is a trusted item, so you can click Run: 

3) A WinZip Extractor window appears.

Click Browse, and select the Desktop

 

You will return to the WinZip window.  Now click Unzip:

4.)  Here, click Unzip.  The file will begin downloading to your computer

 

 

Hit Close on the WinZip screen that says "404 file(s) unzipped successfully". You can then close the

 

 

5.)   When finished, there will be a folder on your Desktop entitled English. 

Double-click on that folder, continuing to click through the WINNT folder and to the i386 folder.  There you'll see a listing of several files and folders.  Find the file entitled "Setupnw -- Client installation program".  (The full name is setnw.exe)  Double-click on that. 

5) The Novell installation will appear.

 

Select Custom Installation, then click Next.

 

Take all default values (i.e. don't change anything) until you get to the Protocol Preference screen.  There, select the IP only radio button as such:

Continue with taking all default values and Finish.

6) When the installation is complete, you will be prompted to restart the computer.
Click the Reboot button.

7) Log in as Workstation Only. Right-click on the Novell logo (Red N) in the system tray and click on Novell Client Properties. Click on the tab marked Service Location, and under Director Agent List type 163.120.7.2, click Add, then click OK. You shouls reboot again now.

8) When the computer reboots, the Novell login screen should appear. Click the Advanced button. Enter the following information in the corresponding fields:

  • Tree: DS
  • Context: .student.depauw
  • Server: dpu_fs1

9) Enter your provided Novell username and password.

NOTE: For Windows XP users, Novell Client offers the ability to synchronize Novell and Windows’ passwords. If this option is selected, your Windows password will be the same as your Novell password. You will not be able to log into the workstation/computer alone if you do not know your password. PLEASE RECORD AND KEEP YOUR PASSWORD SAFE!!
