Changing text properties

 

  1. Select the text. This can be done in both Photoshop and Fireworks. Select the layer that contains the text.
  2. Use the Text tool to highlight the text you wish to edit.
  3. Once the text is selected, you will use the Properties inspector in Fireworks or the Character and Paragraph windows in Photoshop.

Terms:

Size changes the size of the selected text.

Alignment changes the alignment of the selected text.

Kerning changes the distance between text characters. Negative numbers make the characters closer together; positive numbers move them further apart.

Leading is the amount of space between lines of type. Negative values move the lines closer; positive values move them further apart.

Tracking is the process of creating an equal amount of spacing across a range of letters. Negative values move the letters closer; positive values move them further apart.

Horizontal scale specifies the width proportion of text. You can adjust scale to compress or expand selected characters

Vertical scale specifies the height proportion of text. You can adjust scale to compress or expand selected characters
