Creating a new site in DreamWeaver

Before you start Dreamweaver: Create a folder in My Documents to contain the site.

1. Double-click the My Documents icon on the desktop:

2. Select File >New >Folder ( or if you prefer you can right click anywhere in the My Documents folder and Select New > Folder).

3. Name the folder as desired (E.g., UNIV101). Remember, you can always rename a folder by right clicking on the folder you want to rename and click rename.

Start Dreamweaver and define the new site

1. Select Site >New Site

a. In the Site Definition window, click the Advanced tab

 

2. Under the Local Info Category, enter the:

a. Site Name

b. Local Root Folder (This is the folder you just created in My Documents. Click to browse to it.)

c. Make sure Enable Cache is checked.

3. Under the Remote Info Category

a. Set Access to FTP

b. If you are publishing to your P drive, enter the FTP Host as p:\public_html
(If your site is on the DePauw server, enter www.depauw.edu)

c. Enter your Novell username & password

d. Check the Save box

e. Leave Host Directory and all other checkboxes blank

Note: If you are creating dynamic content, you should also define a Testing Server in the same way you defined your Remote Info.
