With careful scaffolding and host mentoring, current interns are poised to maximize their ITAP experience.

Current Interns

Components

First-year apprentices attend Institute before Fall Semester begins and complete 4 six-week rotations along with learning journals for each rotation. They also create an internship ePortfolio, which is updated yearly throughout their four-year ITAP experience. Each spring both apprentices and associates apply for the next academic year's on-campus internship positions posted as classifieds by presenting a current ePortfolio and interviewing with the internship host. Apprentices and associates also attend at least 3 Professional Development Series events each semester, including the semester of graduation. In addition to ITAP on-campus internships, associates can participate in off-campus internships during a semester, summer, or Winter Term. Outstanding advanced interns may be considered for a Becker Fellows Award, sponsored by David Becker, who generously donates to technology initiatives at DePauw University.

Evaluation

Apprentices are evaluated by rotation hosts at the end of a six-week rotation, and they meet that week to review the evaluation forms and to discuss areas of success and areas for improvement. Apprentices also have the opportunity to provide feedback on the rotation experience. Associates are evaluated by associate hosts through mid-semester and semester-end assessments, and areas for improvement should be discussed.
