START Student Services

A part of DePauw University 's 361 ° Initiatives, the Student Technology Assessment, Resources and Training Program (START) is dedicated to assisting DePauw students with their technology needs.

START provides students with the opportunity to assess and improve their technical skills by completing technical needs assessments, participating in hands-on, student-led workshops, using web-based training provided by Element K, and certifying their skills via the nationally recognized Tek.Xam.

The workshops we offer cover such topics as: general computing concepts, information literacy, word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, database management, and web authoring. By collaborating with various departments and organizations such as FITS (Faculty Instructional Technology Support), mitc (music instructional technology center), dml (digital media lab), and the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media, START is also able to provide training in audio skills, video skills, desktop publishing, and multimedia.

One-on-one assistance is another way in which START is able to assist students' immediate technology needs. START's highly trained student consultants can help you learn an application or complete a class or personal project that requires technology. They are available at START's training lab at the basement of Roy O. West library and on the first floor of the Julian Science and Math Center where you will find all software and hardware tools you need for your project.

START also provides students the opportunity to foster their leadership and management skills in an innovative and collaborative environment by becoming consultants and directors of the program.
