Created by the Virginia Foundation of Independent Colleges ( http://www.vfic.org ), the Tek.Xam Assessment Suite offers students the tools to measure their technology fluency in the following seven skill areas: General Computing Concepts, Knowledge and Use of the Internet, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentations, Databases, and Web Authorship.
There is a separate 35-minute online assessment test for each of the seven separate skill areas. These online tests are called modules and are taken in your web browser. Test takers answer multiple-choice questions and receive a performance report identifying their strengths and weaknesses immediately after they have completed the assessment. The students have to achieve a certain test score set by the Tek.Xam in order to receive certification for a certain module.
