Biographical Sketch
Otto Basye was born in Bowling Green, Missouri, on April 27, 1872, attended public
schools there and later attended and graduated from Missouri Military Academy at Mexico,
Missouri. Upon his graduation from DePauw University in 1896 he was elected to Phi Beta
Kappa. He taught school in Napanee, Indiana and in Indianapolis where he also studied law at the
University of Indianapolis. He then moved to moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he lived
and practiced law continuously from 1905 until his retirement in 1958. He passed away February
6, 1960.
