Biographical Sketch

Dr. Wilbur Vincent Brown was born in Hope, New Jersey, March 27, 1860, the son of Reverend and Mrs. Albert Brown. He received his bachelor of science degree from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey, in 1880. Eight years later he was awarded his Ph.D. from the same institution. He was a member of the faculty for 43 years, coming to DePauw as assistant professor of mathematics, and assistant director of the McKim observatory. Dr. Brown had been ill for some time before he resigned his position on the faculty. His death in 1928 was due to high blood pressure.

Collection Statement

This collection contains many volumes of books by Dr. Brown, most are journals presumably about the weather. Some volumes are unidentified. There are also many books about the Meridian Circle Constants/Observations.
