A gift has been made to the University by the widow of research scientist Dr. Percy L. Julian '20 to honor his memory. Dr. Anna Johnson Julian of Oak Park, Illinois, has given more than $51,000 to DePauw. This is in addition to a fund created earlier. The fund will be used to create two trusts - one known as the Percy L. Julian Memorial Chemistry Fund and the other the Percy L. Julian Memorial Scholarship Fund. The chemistry fund will be used for research programs, memorial lectures and for materials and equipment needed by the department of chemistry in which Julian studied as a DePauw student. The scholarship fund is earmarked for the education of talented young people who enroll at DePauw to study chemistry.
