Fred L. O'Hair

Fred L. O'Hair was born on July 24, 1889. He was educated in the Greencastle City Schools, Culver Military Academy, and DePauw University -- from which he graduated in 1910. He was married Iva Nolane Smith and had two children, James and Genevieve.

Fred spent almost sixty years in the banking business. He started with the First National City Bank of New York, but returned to Greencastle in 1921 to take over the presidency of the Central National Bank due to the illness of his father. He served continuously as president and/or chairman of the Board until his retirement in December 1968.

Fred O'Hair also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of DePauw University almost continuously since his return to Greencastle in 1921. He was a member of many of the most important committees over a long period of years.
