Biographical Background

Hayden Hayes Allen was the 5th son of Benjamin Ambrose and Elizabeth Eaton Allen. He was born 12/8/1860 near New Lebanon. He was a farmer until he yielded to the call to preach the gospel. He entered the Indiana Conference and served his charges in Indiana till his retirement in 1932. He was an official of the Conference Board of Stewards of his conference for 30 years. He married Martha Ridgeway in 1883 and they had three children. He died 1/26/1935.

Collection includes sermons; misc. clippings and poems; special meeting sermons; and a letter to Mr. Miller, n.d., unsigned. Also included is an obituary. Material in all folders with the exception perhaps of Folder 1 was used in Mitchell, Indiana.
