    On December 12, 1954, a number of residents met with representatives from the Board of Missions of Southern Indiana Conference at the Indiana Memorial Union. At this meeting it was decided that:
    1. Retired Rev. E.M. Diener and Rev. Sachs were to look into a possible location for services
    2. August, 1955 was set as the date for the first service
    3. The appointment of a committee to study plans and procedures toward the erection of a church was suggested as a recommendation to the Board of Missions.
     It was decided not to wait until August, and the first service of worship was conducted in the lounge of the Student Building on March 20, 1955. The response was so great that the 1955 Annual Conference approved a continuation of the program to organize a congregation and build a church building.
     Plans for construction were not acted upon until the following conference, when it went on record approving the building. Contract for construction was approved in September, 1956, and the building was completed in June, 1957.
