Historical Sketch

The Methodist organization at Bowling Green began in 1837. Meetings were first held at people's homes and later in the one room schoolhouse. In 1847, the first church was built out of sun-dried bricks of which many had the imprints of goats hooves in them.  For many years, there had been talk of a new church. In 1908, it was decided to begin construction on the new building. In March of 1909, the old church building was taken down and the new one started. The new building was dedicated January 30, 1910.
