He was one of the founders of Epworth Forest; for 25 years he served as a member of the
Board of directors of the Wesley Foundation at Ball State; he was District Director of Christian
Education for six terms; and for ten years he was President of the Conference Historical Society.
He was active in several other historical societies, as well as being a founder of the DePauw
University and UMC Archives.
