Sample Survivor Questions

Challenge 1:  Survival – Purple Tribe

Your tribemate staggers over mumbling “Poppies…poppies
will put them to sleep…” like the Wicked Witch in the Wizard
of Oz.  He’s clutching a fistful of red flowers. Assuming the
flowers are actually poppies, what types of side effects can he
expect to suffer?

Challenge 2: Literature/Art – Purple Tribe

You and one of your tribemates are in a heated argument

about whether or not Shakespeare died on his birthday.  You

say yes, your tribemate says no.  Who is correct?   Give the dates

of Shakespeare’s birth and death.  To keep on Professor Probst’s

good side, make certain you cite your source.  He’s a real stickler

for proper citation.

Challenge 4: History/Geography – Orange Tribe

Being safe and dry in the library isn’t all that bad.  Remember

all the previous Survivor editions that feature castaways being

drenched by torrential rainfall?  Speaking of rain, what is the

average yearly rainfall in Djibouti?

Challenge 5: Popular Culture – Yellow Tribe

You and your fellow castaways have been talking about how

much you miss your computers.  Just for the record, in what

year did Intel release its first Pentium chip?

Challenge 7: Social Sciences – Orange Tribe

While attempting to procure food for his tribe, your tribemate

lost his arm in an unfortunate shark attack.  Since the accident,

he has been complaining of pain where the limb used to be.

You quickly identify this phenomenon as “phantom limb” pain.

He thinks you’re making it up, but you’re out to prove that this

is a real, medically recognized phenomenon.  Find out who first

used the term “phantom limb” and when it was coined.
