2002—Percussionist Amy Lynn Barber appointed Dean;
the Percussion Plus Project moves from Vienna to DePauw as an ensemble-in-residence
Percussionist Amy Lynn Barber was appointed Dean in 2002 and resigned from deanship in 2006. Dr. Barber was Professor of Percussion at the Prague Conservatory for five years and a member of the Slovenian Philharmonic before her appointment as Dean of the School of Music.
The Percussion Plus Project, a unique contemporary chamber music ensemble which focuses on an unusual repertoire that is little-known to general audiences, moved from Vienna to DePauw as an ensemble-in-residence. Founded in 1993 in Prague by Amy Lynn Barber, the ensemble had its own successful concert series for several years in Prague, and later in Ljubljana, Slovenia. During 1998-2002, it was based in Vienna, Austria. Their programs consist of works for percussion—ranging from one to many players—and another solo instrument. No other ensemble devotes itself solely to this repertoire.
